Hi, I’m Mal.
Founder and Creator and Designer and Facilitator and Writer and Photographer and Hot Wonky Person of Darling Reject
To the adults I sent my resume to.
I recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts at McGill University, where I studied Cultural Studies, Communications, and History. I spent my last two years crafting social media campaigns for the Musician’s Collective, a team of creatives who produce live music events for young bands across Montreal.
I am currently studying Fashion Management at George Brown College, surrounded by artists and fashion enthusiasts like myself. I hope to work in brand storytelling one day as I’ve always been interested in the growth of small fashion brands and the campaigns and events that wake the internet.
My current favourite is the Peachy Cup produced by London’s It Girl brand, Peachy Den in collaboration with Adidas. An annual football tournament to unite local brands with community sportsmanship. I love the love.

To the internet I am compulsively involved with.
I am unpolished. I cry when I laugh and I smile when I’m lying. I spent the last four years building incredible friendships, travelling the world, and despite the personal growth I’ve hugely achieved, I still cry to my parents when I feel less than most.
When I write, and I love to write, I always use five words too many. On the weekends, I serve at a restaurant and when I take Empty Plates away, I say, “we hated it?” on a good night, and “are you done?” on a bad night. I exist to dance, joke, read and when I’m really lucky, speak to my sister on her way home from school. Any questions? The quiz is on Friday.
And to a future me and you.
I have a dream for Darling Reject to become a digital magazine wholly dedicated to exposing consumers to slow, sustainable brands and artists from all over the world. Concentrated in a user-friendly format that informs consumers where these brands are produced, how ethically they are manufactured, and who is behind the creation of these products.
Darling Reject will become your reference guide to shopping both online and in person, wherever you go.
For now though, DR is a work in progress. Growing alongside my work ethic, DR is abnoxiously tied to the inspiration I get from women talking about fashion on podcasts and nothing to do on a Tuesday night… But I’m listening to a LOT of podcasts.
